A day of relief teaching at Hammond Island

Jayne did a day of relief teaching at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart's Hammond Island campus, which has a Kindy/Prep class & a Year 1/2/3 class.
She caught the Hammond ferry from T.I. in the morning & enjoyed a scenic walk to work...taught at the campus for the morning, then accompanied the school children and staff on the ferry back to T.I. for the end-of-term liturgy at the Thursday Island campus church.
The ferry's steering cable snapped halfway across the channel...so all were adrift for 5 mins while the ferry captain undertook some swift repairs & the gentle rocking sent the children to sleep.
Thanks to the crafty captain, Sharon, the ferry arrived safely & the Hammond children attended the church service, followed by lunch & play at the park, before returning on the afternoon ferry to their island home.
