Montessori Summit on Thursday Island ~ August 2014

A three day Montessori conference was held on Thursday Island August 27th - 29th.

Presenters came from around the world and around the Torres Strait to discuss child development, learning and the Montessori method.

Evy was among the children who presented some traditional songs with Miss Trish and her Strait Start students (Strait Start is Montessori's 0-3 year old program in the Straits).

Long Weekend spent on Horn Island - Wongai Resort

Need to step off "the rock" (T.I.)?
Try a night or 2 at the Wongai resort on Horn Island...
We caught the ferry over, stayed 2 nights in a cosy cabin with 1 queen + 2 fold-out beds (a very tight squeeze!), went for afternoon walks around Wasaga village, strolled in the little 'IBIS' grocery store & the 'Island & Cape' mini mart, visited the Culture & Heritage Museum,  slept in, swam in the freezing resort pool, ate lunch at the Hotel's pub, ate our included continental breakfast on our cabin's deck, & just generally chillaxed...
A good break!
